Great news: thanks to your generous support, the Arctic Cross Kickstarter campaign surpassed its fundraising goal of $5,000.  I am sincerely grateful for your contributions, DVD pre-orders, promotion and support!  The film is on its way!

This success has led to a great article about the project in Alaska's biggest newspaper.  The piece includes a photoessay shot during my fact-finding trip to Alaska in August.

Also, for those of you who might still be interested in contributing or pre-ordering a DVD, I've started a campaign for the long-term.  Please check it out

Over the next year, I hope to alternate between the production of a second film and subsequent tours with Meeting Andrei Tarkovsky.  From late October until mid-November, the documentary will be shown around the Mid-Atlantic and Midwest.  Then, in February 2012, I plan to tour the West Coast.  In April of next year there will be another tour of the East Coast and Midwest.

For everybody who is in contact with me through Facebook or via the newsletter, I hope to release a trailer of my new documentary very soon!

12 July 2011

I plan to take a break from work on my second film in order to tour the Northeast and Midwest this October. Catch Meeting Andrei Tarkovsky at the Cleveland Museum of Art on October 26 at 6:30. Info on other screenings coming soon...

15 April 2011

The tour was a great adventure and success. Thank you to everybody who helped with all of the university screenings! I hope to repeat such a journey in September and October, this time in the northern states!

Next week, buy 'Meeting Andrei Tarkovsky' for only $15 on Amazon, and all of the profits from your purchase will help Advita USA, an organization that treats childhood cancer in children from the former Soviet Union.

30 January 2011

I am excited about the upcoming tour of the southeastern United States! Ten new screenings are listen here!

7 December 2010

I am currently organizing a tour of Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, and Florida set for February.  Afterwards, in April, Meeting Andrei Tarkovsky will screen in theaters and universities across the UK and France.

The college campus tour continues!  Also, I have begun sending out 300 Limited Edition DVD's to those who have pre-ordered in previous months. Thank you again for your support!  If you haven't gotten a copy yet, there are about 100 discs left!

The official DVD release (through Amazon, book stores, etc.) is planned for early 2011!

The only theatrical screenings which are planned for the moment are in Philadelphia in August and New York City in October, but more will be announced soon, including a tour of France, Italy, and Germany!

Jeffrey Overstreet wrote an extraordinarily thoughtful two-part article on my film in Image Journal (Part 1 & Part 2)

2 April 2010

Meeting Andrei Tarkovsky will be included on the new Alamode re-release of Nostalghia in German-speaking countries! This is a great opportunity to own the documentary with German subtitles, as well as a rare, high-quality DVD of Tarkovsky's Italian masterpiece. The Meeting Andrei Tarkovsky website is officially launched! Thank you to everyone who contributed.

In order to expand the conversation on the work of Andrei Tarkovsky, I'm asking you -- the dedicated supporter of Meeting Andrei Tarkovsky -- to perform a quick online task every week. This "Deed of the Week" (for which you will assuredly gain good karma) should take as little as one minute to accomplish, but will allow the film to distinguish itself in a hyper-saturated online environment where content of this type is often overlooked.

This week's Deed of the Week is to blog, tweet, or post about the film's new website (www.trakovskyfilm.com). Please link to the site using the words "Andrei Tarkovsky" in order to make it more visible on search engines.
